Full Details of MotoGP Sprint Races

Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Ducati has taken victory in a dramatic and chaotic Spanish GP Sprint race that was affected by a number of crashes. Martin had a comfortable four-second lead on the final lap and looked unbeatable, but the #89 held onto the victory.

This marks Martin's first victory of the 2023 MotoGP season and his fourth career MotoGP win. He becomes the first rider to win a MotoGP sprint race, which will feature on the grand prix bill for the first time in history.

The Spanish GP Sprint was a 12-lap race, half the distance of a regular MotoGP race. Martin started from pole position and led from the start, but he was closely followed by Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo Team and Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda Team.

Bagnaia crashed out of the race on lap 5, while Marquez crashed out on lap 8. This left Martin with a comfortable lead, but he was still being chased by Enea Bastianini of Gresini Racing MotoGP and Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia Racing Team.

Martin held on to win the race by 0.4 seconds over Bastianini, with Espargaro completing the podium. Fabio Quartararo of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP finished fourth, ahead of Brad Binder of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing and Pol Espargaro of Repsol Honda Team.

The MotoGP sprint races will continue at the Portuguese GP in Portimao on April 23. The races will be held on Saturday afternoon, with the full-distance races taking place on Sunday.
