Five-Set Thriller Keeps Title Hopes Alive

Zverev comes back from the brink defeats Griekspoor in five-set classic

Alexander Zverev's Roland Garros title hopes hung by a thread on Saturday. The German star found himself two sets down to Tallon Griekspoor but fought back to win in five sets and reach the last 16 of the French Open.

Zverev, the third seed, looked in trouble when he lost the first two sets 6-3, 6-3. But he dug deep and took the third set in a tie-break. He then won the fourth set comfortably 6-2 before sealing the victory with a 6-4 win in the fifth set.

"It was a tough match," said Zverev. "I'm just happy to have come through it. I didn't play my best tennis today, but I found a way to win. That's what matters."

Zverev will now face Karen Khachanov in the last 16. The Russian is the 15th seed and has reached the semi-finals of the French Open twice before.

Zverev will be hoping to continue his good form and reach the final of the French Open for the first time. He has been in excellent form this season and has won three titles, including the ATP Finals.
