Hungary Vs Scotland Live

Scotland are ready to make history at Euro 2024, says John McGinn

Scotland midfielder John McGinn believes the team has the mentality and capability to prove people wrong and make history by reaching the knockout stages of Euro 2024.

Scotland face Hungary in their final Group A game on Tuesday, needing a win to have any chance of progressing to the last 16.

It is a tall order for Steve Clarke's side, who have won just two of their last 10 matches and are ranked 40th in the world by FIFA.

However, McGinn is confident that Scotland can defy the odds and make history.

"We know it's a big ask, but we believe in ourselves," said the Aston Villa midfielder. "We have a good squad, we're well-prepared, and we're ready to give it our all.

"We've shown in the past that we can beat anyone on our day. We did it against England at Wembley in 2021, and we did it against Ukraine in the play-offs.

"We're not afraid of anyone, and we're not going to let anyone tell us what we can and can't achieve.

"We're going to go out there and give it everything we've got. We're going to make history for Scotland."

Scotland have never reached the knockout stages of a major tournament since their only previous appearance at a major tournament, the 1998 World Cup.

However, McGinn believes that this team is different.

"We have a special group of players," he said. "We're all close friends, and we're all fighting for each other.

"We know that we can achieve something special together, and we're not going to let anyone stand in our way."
