Buffs Win Seventh-Straight Home Opener

Defense Steps Up in Second Half

Colorado held off North Dakota State 23-21 Saturday in both teams’ season opener at Folsom Field. Quarterback J.T. Sanders and tight end Daniel Hunter were the stars for the Buffaloes, accounting for all three of the team’s touchdowns.

Sanders finished 19-of-26 passing for 222 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Hunter caught eight passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning score with 5:40 remaining.

The Buffs defense came up with several big plays in the second half, led by inside linebacker Josh Chandler-Semedo's two interceptions. Chandler-Semedo also had a team-high nine tackles.

North Dakota State quarterback Cam Miller threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns, but was also intercepted twice.

The Bison had a chance to tie the game with just over two minutes remaining, but kicker Jake Reinholz's 40-yard field goal attempt was wide left.

The Buffaloes improved to 1-0 with the victory and are scheduled to play at Air Force next week.

Sanders, Hunter Lead Buffs Offense

Sanders and Hunter were the offensive stars for the Buffaloes, combining for 282 yards and three touchdowns.

Sanders was efficient passing the ball, completing 19-of-26 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns.

Hunter was a consistent target for Sanders, catching eight passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns.

Defense Steps Up in Second Half

The Buffs defense struggled in the first half, allowing North Dakota State to score 21 points.

However, the defense stepped up in the second half, holding the Bison to just 73 yards of total offense.

Chandler-Semedo came up with two big plays in the second half, intercepting two passes.

Buffs Win Seventh-Straight Home Opener

The Buffaloes improved to 1-0 with the victory, winning their seventh-straight home opener.

The Buffs are now 54-22-4 in home openers.

The Buffaloes are next scheduled to play at Air Force next week.
